  • FoodEating is a big part of traveling. Travelling with G Adventures you experience the vast array of wonderful food that is available out in the world. Generally meals are not included in the trip price when there is a choice of eating options, to give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat. It also gives you more budgeting flexibility, though generally food is cheap. Our groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There is no obligation to do this though. Your CEO will be able to suggest favourite restaurants during your trip. On truck trips in Africa, aboard the expedition ship Explorer or our Galapagos yachts, while trekking in remote regions etc. food is included, plentiful and made of fresh local ingredients. The above information applies to G Adventures group trips. For Independent trips please check the itinerary for details of meals included. For all trips please refer to the meals included and budget information for included meals and meal budgets.

Itinerary

Day 1Santiago

Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer included.
Should you want more time to explore Santiago and do optional day trips, we highly recommend you book additional pre-nights.

Day 2Santiago

Spend the morning with a wine expert, visiting a local winery outside Santiago and discussing the process that makes Chilean wine some of the best in the world. Sample various wines and enjoy a vertical tasting.

Day 3Santiago/Puerto Varas

Fly to Puerto Varas, located in the stunning Chilean Lake District. Explore the countryside and Chilean culture as you visit the Puerto Montt’s Angelmó fish market and the scenic town of Puerto Varas. After, visit a local family home and enjoy a “curanto,” a beloved traditional dish. Mingle with your friendly hosts and try your hand at whipping up salsa pebre.

Day 4Puerto Varas

Today is free to explore on your own. Opt to take an excursion to Chiloé Island.

Day 5Puerto Varas/San Carlos de Bariloche

Travel by bus and ferry to Bariloche, Argentina. Visit the Petrohue Falls, then enjoy the sights from the “Cruce de los Lagos”, considered one of the most scenic cruises in the world.
The approximate journey time today is between 10 and 11 hours. This journey is by comfortable bus and a scenic ferry that crosses the Chilean/Argentine border. Travel time can change based on the time of year and weather conditions. During certain times of the year, the ferry cannot be used, which means we will travel overland by bus.

Day 6San Carlos de Bariloche

Day 7San Carlos de Bariloche/Buenos Aires

Fly to Buenos Aires and enjoy free time to explore this vibrant city.

Day 8Buenos Aires

Enjoy a city tour of the “Paris of the Americas,” visiting key sights and neighbourhoods including Plaza de Mayo, La Boca, and the famed Recoleta Cemetery.
